About The Public Works Department

The Public Works Department is the largest department within the City of Warrenton with 22 full time employees. Public Works' offices and equipment storage yard are located at 45 SW 2nd Street. We are responsible for providing safe drinking water; collecting and treating wastewater; maintaining the existing water, sewer, storm water, dikes/levees, parks, trails and streets, sanitation/recycling services, and Mapping/GIS.

The Public Works Department budgets, plans, designs, and manages Capital Improvement Projects for water, sewer, storm water, parks, and streets/trails.

The men and women of the Warrenton Police Department would like to welcome you to our website. This website is just one of the many community-policing tools and resources that we provide to our citizens and visitors.

The staff of the Warrenton Police Department is dedicated to providing the highest quality law enforcement services through open communications and community partnerships. Warrenton GIS

Using the power of computer mapping and database technology, a Geographic Information System (GIS) combines map layers and data sources to portray relationships hard to understand without a graphic perspective. Warrenton City users include departments and managers who need to make decisions about managing the city’s resources, as well as the public, interested in understanding zoning and environmental conditions in the community.

Community

Our City Government

The City provides a full range of municipal services, including two marinas that serve both a charter and large commercial fleet. Current population is 5,135. Warrenton's local government is organized according to a Commission-Manager type system in which the legislative and policy-making body is a popularly elected Commission consisting of 4 members and the Mayor.

City Commission

The Warrenton City Commission meets at 6:00 p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month in the Commission Chambers at Warrenton City Hall.

Warrenton Planning Department

The Community Development Department is responsible for economic development, land use planning, zoning administration, historic preservation, code enforcement, and assisting the City Manager’s Office with management of the Downtown Urban Renewal District. The department serves current residents and individuals moving to Warrenton with building and planning services in the belief that a growing community can remain liveable, can meeting the needs of its citizens, and become a diverse community with job and housing needs met.
