WPD Arrests North Carolina Murder Suspect

Warrenton, OR – On July 8, 2016 at 8:05pm a male subject knocked on the back door of the Warrenton Police Station. An officer contacted the man who commented that the police were “looking for me” and that he was “wanted for murder.” The man identified himself at David Isaiah Godwin age 25 from Newport, North Carolina. The officer check with Dispatch and found that Godwin had an arrest warrant out of North Carolina for “Homicide” and was listed as “Armed and Dangerous.”

You are welcome to stop by and take any or all of the information we provide. We are also in the process of scanning all of the information into downloadable documents that you can save or print for use at home.

The City of Warrenton is very proud of our police officers, staff, and volunteers. As you can see below, the WPD has a combined total years of expertise and experience of 185 years!  Add in my experience and our total is 219 years!

Criminal Tips

The Warrenton Police Department is dedicated to investigating criminal activity and bringing those responsible to justice. Oftentimes this cannot be accomplished without the aid and assistance of citizens who either witnessed a crime or who have knowledge of the details of a crime.

The Warrenton Police Department also knows that the people who have this knowledge can be put in compromising or dangerous situations if they were to reveal this information.

The Warrenton Police Department DOES NOT provide fingerprinting services. However the Seaside Police department and the Clatsop County Sheriff's Office do.
